When Mickey spills paint on the Sorcerer Yen Sid's model for the theme park Cartoon Wasteland, the Phantom Blot is created. The Phantom Blot then tries to take control of Cartoon Wasteland, turning it into a dark, sinister world, forcing it's residents (including Mickey's half brother, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit) into hiding. Years later, a mirror pulls Mickey into the world of Cartoon Wasteland, where Oswald has become bitter, twisted and jealous of Mickey's fame, and has formulated a plan to destroy Mickey. Armed with a magical paintbrush that he managed to pull into the world with him, Mickey must stop the Phantom Blot, gain Oswald's trust and save the Cartoon Wasteland.
