In preparation for Disney's latest game, Epic Mickey, peripherals company PDP (Performance Designed Products) have teamed up with Disney to release a few Epic Mickey themed accessories.
Epic Mickey - in case you haven't heard about it - is a game which hopes to reinvent Mickey Mouse, turning him from the squeaky-clean, goody-two-shoes boring rodent he's become, into a much more mischievous rodent, that should appeal to both children and adults alike.
The game takes place in Cartoon Wasteland - a land inhabited by all the failed and forgotten efforts of Disney - including the predecessor to Mickey Mouse, Oswald the rabbit (who plays Mickey's evil and jealous half brother in the game). After an accident with some paint and paint thinner a while ago, Mickey, the clot, accidentally created the Evil Blot, a being which takes over Cartoon Wasteland and turns it into a darker, more sinister world, which forces it's residents - along with Oswald - into hiding. Whilst in hiding, Oswald becomes bitter, twisted and jealous of Mickey's fame, and begins to hatch a plan to destroy Mickey. Wielding a paintbrush, paint and paint thinner, Mickey sets out to save the residents, reclaim Cartoon Wasteland and win over Oswald in the process.
First comes the paintbrush controller - a paintbrush-shaped version of the Wii's nunchuck, that's an exact replica of the paintbrush that Mickey wields in the game. Making a the nunchuck into a paintbrush may seem a bit of an odd choice though, seeing as, last time we checked, Mickey's paintbrush is supposed to be controlled by the Wii remote in the game, but who are we to argue?
Then comes the Wii remote charging station - a fancy model of Mickey and the Evil Blot - one of Mickey's enemies in the game. While your Wii remote's charging, the Evil Blot's head will light up - which could be more than a little unnerving in a dark room... And unlike many of the charging stations on the market, the wrist strap doesn't need to be removed for it to charge. The little model of Mickey Mouse can also be removed if you feel that way inclined, so you can take him for a walk.
