Parent's Guide

Red Bull X-Fighters is a downloadable Xbox Live Arcade game based on the freestyle motocross events, which have developed a strong cult following. Taking on a variety of dirt tracks filled with ramps, bumps and jumps, it's up to you to pull off all manner of death defying tricks, in an attempt to gain the highest score possible.

While it may initially not seem like the perfect kids game, due to its fast pace, requirement of speedy reactions, and pretty stringent difficulty level, Red Bull X-Fighters is at least a little bit easier to get to grips with than it initially seems, as you don't have free control over your bike - instead, you simply travel in a straight line through the course - all you control is your bike's speed, and pitch - ensuring you're lined up for landings, and the like.

Children, however, may struggle with the precision required here - leaning back on your bike using the left analogue stick, in order to gain speed can be quite tricky, as it's very easy to lean too far backwards and fall off. Meanwhile, some of the button combinations can be rather awkward, with some requiring you to hold up to four buttons at a time - something which may be a challenge for those players with smaller hands.

Mature Content

There's nothing too bad for parents to worry about the Red Bull X-Fighters. While there are certainly plenty of rather painful looking smashes and crashes, there's no blood, and no particularly grizzly sound effects either - just an "oof", and they get back up.

Family Multiplayer

Sadly, Red Bull X-Fighters is an entirely single player game, and so the options for family play are sadly limited. Bar acting as an extra pair of fingers for some of the more awkward button combinations, anyway.
