Parent's Guide

Girls' Fashion Shoot is essentially a dressing up simulator, where players take on the role of a fashion journalist/model, putting together outfits, make-up and nail designs to fit with various themes for the magazine each month. Whether it's piecing together a preppy outfit, creating designs for a feature on French nails or coming up with a unique sporty/casual look for spring, there's an impressive amount of clothes on offer, from skirts of every colour and length imaginable to swimsuits and bunny ears - which should be enough to keep even the fussiest fashionistas happy.

There is however a large amount of reading required. With no voice acting whatsoever, everything is told through text, including the details of each article's theme - meaning a pretty solid reading ability is a must. Each item of clothing has a few keywords associated with it, telling you what style categories it fits into - cute, stars or school, for example, with dozens of categories on offer. Mixing and matching items that feature your theme of choice is key to progressing through the jobs, and the closer you match the styles, the more money you earn for each task, letting you buy new clothes, hairstyles and more from the shops about town.

Once you've put together an outfit, the photographer takes a few snaps of you in various poses, and it's up to you to design the front page - changing backgrounds, adding sparkles and stickers, and placing text. It's a surprisingly deep designer with plenty of options to chose from, although given the fact they've tried to squeeze so many things in, it can be a bit awkward and cramped to use, particularly if you're not on a 3DS XL, meaning those younger players with less than refined motor controls may struggle slightly.

Mature Content

With large amounts of pink and sparkles offensive, there's nothing for parents to worry about in Girls Fashion Shoot. No bad language, violence or over sexualisation to be seen anywhere.
