Galaga Legions DX is a tricky one to rate for children. On the one hand, it's a fairly simple concept. Like Space Invaders, you're piloting a ship of your own, and have to defend yourself against the notorious alien invaders. Only this time, rather than slowly moving down the screen towards you, the aliens filter onto your screen from all directions, making it hard to find a safe spot - and harder for you to destroy them.
That being said, this isn't all that difficult to play, and it's certainly a concept kids will be able to grasp - but if they struggle with dual analogue controls, they may not get as much out of this as they otherwise should. Being able to aim your guns using the right analogue stick is pretty much essential to your success, as the enemies are all around you - and that may make it tricky for some youngsters.
On the flip side, there's very little in the way of reading (simply choosing a level is all you need to worry about), making the game suitable for young children. Why not try the free demo first, to see how your child copes?
As an arcade game where you blast aliens space ships from the safety of your own craft, there's nothing untoward to worry about in Galaga Legions DX. It's all very kid friendly stuff.
Sadly, there's no multiplayer mode in Galaga Legions DX - which is something of a disappointment. Boo-urns.
