Alien Creeps is a free-to-play, iOS tower defence game that pits players against wave after wave of cute, but evil aliens. In charge of defending a base, it's up to you to build defensive towers along the path, and choose the right combination of defences to deal with the aliens before they reach your base, upgrading them as you go. As a free to play game, micro-transactions play a key part here, and are actually pretty much essential to seeing most of the game. Alien Creeps has two currencies - coins and gems - with coins awarded for zapping aliens, while gems form the "premium" currency, which you can only really get by spending real money (they do sometimes show up in game, but only very rarely). While coins can be spent on upgrading towers, gems can be spent to get "care packages" in the game, which deliver all manner of helpful, and incredibly powerful items. The catch is, in order to progress through the game, you need to have earnt a certain number of stars. To make it to the second stage of the game, you need to have earnt 20 out of a possible 25 stars from the game's first five levels - and without spending money on gems, that's really hard. Three of those stars are awarded based on how well you completed a level - and without the extra firepower care packages give you, it can be hard to proceed. So, Alien Creeps is a fun game - just watch out for the potential for the "free-to-play" costs to spiral.
With cute cartoon graphics, there's very little for parents to worry about in Alien Creeps. There's no bad language and no sex whatsoever. While your turrets and troops will fire at aliens with guns, rockets, and even a Tesla coil, the aliens don't bleed, and simply lie down and disappear when defeated.
