Another puzzle solved. Everyone's favourite puzzling professor makes his return to the DS this October - on the 22nd to be exact - with the third instalment in the brain bending series, entitled Professor Layton and the Lost Future.
For the newcomers, Professor Layton is a world-renowned puzzle solver, who, with his assistant Luke, travels around the world, helping people solve mysteries and puzzles. In the game, players help the pair solve logic-based puzzles, as well as exploring the various locations they find themselves in and helping people out. In the first game, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, players helped solve the mystery of the late Baron Reinhold's fortune, as well as finding out just what makes the village of St. Mystere so curious. In the second game, Professor Layton and Pandora's Box, Layton and Luke solve the mystery of Layton's mentor's mysterious death, and unravel the story of Pandora's box as they go.
As the title suggests, the game has something to do with the future. One day, Layton receives a letter from his assistant Luke, which seems like a relatively mundane occurrence, until we realise this letter was sent from ten years in the future. The Luke of the future warns of a terrible calamity that has happened in London, and needs the Professor's help. Back in the present day, earlier on that week, there had been a terrible incident involving the Prime Minister, a time machine and an explosion - could they be related?
The new game is also supposed to reveal more about the Professor himself, and his history through flashbacks - giving the player information on everything from Layton's lost lover, to how he got his trusty hat. And that's what we really want to know.So make a note in your diary for the 22nd October, when the puzzling Professor and lovable Luke return in their latest - this time time-travelling - adventure.
