What is It's Quiz Time?
Offering some 25,000 unique questions, across more than 4,000 categories, It's Quiz Time is a huge trivia game designed to be played with friends and family. After downloading the companion app to your Android or iOS device, up to eight people can play together through round after round of brain teasers, as your AI host, Salli, reads out the questions - and your names!
How do you play It's Quiz Time?
Pitting up to eight players against each other in a point scoring contest (or up to 10,000 players if you stream it online), It's Quiz Time offers a wide range of modes and topics to go with its huge selection of questions. From Guesstimate, which gives you a numerical bar, and asks you to move a slider to guess at questions like "What is the population of Weston-Super-Mare", to our favourite mode, Connections, which gives you a board of 16 answers, before asking you to try and find as many right answers that match a category like "People born in the USA", there are many inventive modes here to try out, along with thousands of standard, choose-from-the-four-answers trivia questions to keep your brain ticking over.
If everyone downloads the companion app, up to eight people can play together in the standard "Play with Friends" mode, while a single player challenge mode gives you 15 questions, and asks you to get as many as you can right in order to earn your place on the high score leaderboard. Live show is a mode designed for streaming, and can be played with up to 10,000 players, while Custom Game lets you choose only your favourite rounds to play.
We should note that the only way to play in multiplayer with friends and family is with the companion app. The game doesn't support controllers in multiplayer, and so everyone will need their own phone, and to have downloaded the free companion app.
How easy is It's Quiz Time to pick up and play?
How easy It's Quiz Time is to pick up and play will likely depend on who you're playing it with. With a wide range of topics and categories, the game actually asks you for your age when you first start playing, so it can attempt to tailor the questions to suit, and will apparently prioritise the questions that younger players might know - so you might get asked about 2010s TV rather than 1960s. The only problem is, it doesn't always help, as some categories, like Maths, will ask players complex multiple choice problems regardless of their age (1653 / 3, 27 x 39, 792 - 885. Even as multiple choice, we struggle!). If you're playing with a group with mixed ages, meanwhile, there's not really very much the game can do to ensure younger players get asked suitable questions, as you're usually all answering the same ones.
That said, with no lives or any way of really failing, there's nothing to stop you giving younger players a bit of a helping hand with any questions they don't know, while relying on the game to at least tailor some of the questions to be more fitting for their age group.
With nothing in the way of violence, bad language, or sexual content, It's Quiz Time contains nothing in the way of mature content.
