While a new James Bond movie might be a long way off, due to MGM scrapping the 23rd Bond film after it hit apparent "financial constraints", fans of the suave spy are being rather spoiled when it comes to games, first, with the new Goldeneye being announced for Wii and DS, and now, a brand new adventure, in the form of 007: Blood Stone.
Coming out on both the Wii and 360, Blood Stone sees the player filling the shoes of Daniel Craig's 007 in a whole new adventure written by the man who adapted both Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough for the big screen. The third person adventure promises "cover-based firefights, lethal hand to hand combat and adrenaline fueled driving sequences" as you adventure through Athens, Istanbul, Monaco and Bangkok to take down a terrorist suicide organization and investigate the diamond trade, all from the comfort of your own home.
And it wouldn't be a true James Bond adventure without a sexy female sidekick, and they've managed to fill at least one of those conditions with Joss Stone, the English (though she doesn't sound it) Soul and R&B singer. We already know she's doing the theme song for the game (so we'll most likely be watching the intro with the sound on mute) in collaboration with Dave Stewart, of Eurythmics fame, but we're hoping that'll be the only time she tries her hand at that thing she calls singing during the game.
As well as Joss Stone's likeness and voice, the game will also feature Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, as James Bond and M respectively, so the game will be remaining as true to the 007 experience as possible.
While Joss Stone's 40-cigs-a-day voice singing voice might put us off, we need something to fill the void between now and the next James Bond movie, so we're going to keep our eye on this one. We'll have more info in a few weeks.
