Today's Kinect title is Ubisoft's Fighters Uncaged, which, as you might be able to guess from the title, is another Kinect game you might want to draw the curtains before playing - if for nothing else, at least you'd avoid the embarrassment that comes hand in hand with looking like your trying to climb onto an invisible bike...
Because Microsoft's Kinect camera tracks your entire body, and uses it as the controller, it means that Fighters Uncaged makes for a rather realistic beat 'em up game, where you can use your arms, legs, elbows, knees, feet and even head to take down the opponents. There are over 70 moves in the game, taken directly from the world of mixed martial arts, which you can unleash on your opponents, whilst you duck and weave to avoid their blows.
You play as a man called Simon, who is forced into the secret underground world of illegal fighting tournaments. Trained by his father, a champion boxer, he must use all his skills to defend himself from the deadly opponents who use a wide range of mixed martial arts to take him down as he battles through 21 diverse and gritty locations, which all react in different ways to the action, as the body of your opponent goes headlong into them.
The thing that'll really make and break this one is the responsiveness of the input, and the training mode. After all, the last thing you want is to duck a blow, only for your character to not bother, and just get punched in the face. While the game is set to feature a training mode, it's the quality of said tutorial that'll determine how well the game does - with so many moves to remember, we think we'd like to have someone talk us through how each move works first. As the single press release Ubisoft have released about the game spends a fair amount of time talking about how detailed the tutorial is, we're fairly confident that this'll have you hopping around your living room like Jackie Chan playing invisible karate with a motion sensing camera - as that's exactly what you'll be doing.
Fighters Uncaged is priced at £40, and is due to release on the 10th November, along with the Kinect camera. On the run up to the launch, we'll be covering a new game every day, as part of our 'Countdown to Kinect', as well as answering any questions you might have about Kinect in our Kinect FAQ - so make sure you check back tomorrow.
