Parent's Guide

What is WWE 2K15?

WWE 2K15 is a wrestling game that lets players take control of their favourite grapplers in a variety of matches and modes. Whether they're playing with four friends in local or online multiplayer modes, relieving past feuds through the game's story driven "Showcase" mode, or creating a wrestler for their own shot at glory in the new MyCareer mode, there's plenty of ways for grappling fans to sink their teeth in. There's also a good selection of wrestlers, too, from big names like John Cena and Randy Orton, through to legends like the Ultimate Warrior, and everything in between.

How do you play WWE 2K15?

WWE 2K15's "main" mode is the story-driven Showcase mode, which lets you play through the highlights of two famous feuds - CM Punk vs John Cena, and HHH vs HBK. Letting you play through famous matches from the past, you'll often be given a number of bonus objectives, which reward you for keeping your match as close as possible to the actual thing, whether it's winning in a certain way, or putting your opponent through the announce table.

Outside of the showcase mode, you can put together matches for up to four players on the same console, with a variety of match types on offer, including hardcore, ladder and Hell in a Cell. The MyCareer mode, meanwhile, works as a kind of light story mode, as wrestle your way through dozens of matches, slowly working your way up through the WWE system, from the training grounds of NXT until you reach the top. You can also head online to take on people from around the world and climb the leaderboards.

How easy is WWE 2K15 to pick up and play?

In terms of accessibility, WWE games are always at least fairly easy to pick up and play. While there may be a lot of buttons involved, the controls are fairly straightforward for the most part, with most of your main moves handled by just a few buttons - one button handles grapples, while another handles strikes. While it may take a bit of time to learn the ropes if this is your first game (pun intended), you can actually make things a lot easier for yourself by heading into the game's options, and tweaking the game's balancing sections. Here, you can reduce the frequency of your computer opponent's reversals, make them less powerful, and also make it so they can take less damage, essentially lowering the difficulty so much that even younger children can play it.

Mature Content

While it may be slightly stronger than the TV PG rated show it's based around, WWE 2K15 still doesn't have too much for parents to worry about. While the game does feature blood, it is an optional extra, and has to be specifically turned on in the game's options. Along with beating each other up with all manner of wrestling moves, you can also use tables, chairs, sledgehammers (although attacks with the sledgehammer are done in traditional reserved wrestler style), and kendo sticks. There's nothing in the way of swearing beyond "ass", and other than a few scantily clad wrestlers, nothing to report in terms of sexual content either.
