Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 on the Wii takes a markedly different approach to the more realistic 360 and PS3 versions. Putting accessibility at the forefront, the Wii edition comes complete with a range of control schemes that'll let everyone have fun - from the most experienced golf pro, to those who've never left the confines of the crazy golf course.
With a variety of real life courses to take on, and big name players to compete with, you can tailor the experience to be as realistic - or as simple - as you'd like. As you'd probably expect, the Wii version takes advantage of the Wii Remote to make the experience as intuitive as possible. Standing in your living room, side on with your TV, if you swing your Wii Remote back, your avatar will do the same on the TV - swing it forward, and you'll whack the ball down the fairway. And that's all you need to know!
As mentioned before, though, there's a range of ways to adjust and tweak the control scheme to suit your needs. While on the one end of the scale, you can attach the Motion Plus add on for an incredibly realistic swing, at the other end, you can turn on All Play mode, which will effectively enable a load of assists and helpers to help you make your shot. Switching on a line that shows you exactly where your shot will land, roll, and eventually stop, All Play mode is great for helping beginners get off to a great start - and incredibly useful for lining up those putts!
With a range of controls schemes catering for everyone from novices to pros, the only real barrier to kids here is learning to use the Wii Remote as a golf club - which is pretty simple to do! While you will have to read to understand the menus, there's little reading beyond that - although a child that can't read would likely struggle with the game.
Beyond the potential for damaging the furniture with overzealous swings, there's nothing here for parents to be concerned about.
