While you may initially err away from Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, thanks to its focus on, well, beating people up, it's worth stopping and thinking again. With its over the top characters, tongue in cheek action, and sudden emphasis on accessibility, Street Fighter IV 3D is a game that would go down well with children.
While there are some touchy aspects, as mentioned above, it's not actually all that bad. The violence is incredibly cartoony, and is certainly no worse than something like Mucha Lucha, and is probably actually less offensive than the WWE, as these are quite obviously ridiculously over the top moves, that a normal person could never perform.
While it undoubtedly works best in multiplayer, there's still plenty of things to do in single player, with each character having their own back story, and story mode, which, while it does tell you a little more about their character, serves mainly as an excuse to link together a series of fights.
It's good fun though, and would be recommended for children of the right age - it'll go down a treat.
Although it is a beat 'em up, Super Street Fighter IV isn't actually gory. While you do see virtual figures punching and kicking each other, it's all done in such an over the top fashion, it's hard to take it seriously. While there's no gore, there are a fair few funny faces being pulled in response to a fist to the jaw as part of a special move, and there are several of women who are scantily clad - although most are dressed tastefully.
Brilliantly, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition is the only 3DS launch title to support download player, allowing anyone with a 3DS to download a demo version of the game, and take part in a one on one fight. While you're limited to one character, it's certainly better than nothing, while the multiplayer options are greatly expanded if you have a cartridge each.
