Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster is an enchanting children's game for the Xbox 360 and Kinect, which requires the Kinect sensor. After coming across a magical story book, Elmo and the Cookie Monster enter a world of monsters, who each need their help through the universal medium of minigames.
Packed full of fun and games, Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster will put a smile on any child's face. Incredibly easy to use, well explained, and intuitive, Once Upon a Monster uses all of Kinect's strengths to great effect, creating a game that will suck young children in. Even being able to wave at Cookie Monster and have him wave back, and talk about you waving, is enough to put a smile on a child's face - and that's only the beginning.
Each story consists of a number of charm filled cutscenes that tell the story, and a series of minigames for you and/or your children to complete. Fully playable with an adult playing alongside a children, each of the objectives is made clear enough for a young child to understand, and the games are well thought out, logical, and simple enough for even the youngest of children to play along.
As each child will do things differently (some overblown, some reserved), the game's been designed to suit, and seemingly is intelligent enough to interpret almost any gesture your child makes how it's intended. For example, when trying to fly up the screen, with both arms held out like wings, some children will lean left and right to move from side to side, others will hold their one arm higher than the other, and others still will flap one arm and not the other. The game caters to all three scenarios, which means only rarely will it not interpret what your child's trying to do.
Perfect for pre-school age children, and funny enough to keep the older kids playing too, Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster is a great game for families and children alike.
As a Kinect game based around Sesame Street, there's nothing for parents to be concerned about here at all. No swearing, violence, gore, or sex at all. After all, it just wouldn't be Sesame Street then, would it?
Designed to be played with a parent and child together, Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster is at its best when an adult (or older sibling) plays along with a younger child, giving them a helping hand, or point in the right direction when need be.
