Sacred 3 is a hack and slash role playing game, designed to be played by a group of people. With support for two player local co-op, and up to four players online, while the game may be playable in single player, it's actually quite a bit harder, so anyone buying this should prepare for a co-op adventure.
With a rudimentary story tying everything together, Sacred 3 is divided up into levels, which ask you to venture from A to B, taking out the enemies that get in your way. And there are a lot of them. With only one main attack, and two limited use special attacks at your disposal, there's no long button sequences to remember here - but having quick reaction is a must, as you'll often have to dodge enemy attacks, or react quickly to break their move.
In terms of accessibility, there are few real barriers here beyond the game's difficulty. Even playing in co-op, the game contains bosses that you tend to luck through rather than truly beat, and some younger children may find the difficulty level frustrating, while others may appreciate the extra challenge. With little in the way of reading, and no complex objectives to understand, though, this is a fairly easy game for kids to get into - even if they may not appreciate the somewhat unforgiving difficulty.
As a hack and slash adventure set in a fantasy world, Sacred 3 contains some content parents may want to be aware of. The game's combat contains a fair amount of gore, with blood splattering out when enemies are hit, and splashing across the floors and walls. That said, there's nothing here in the way of bad language, and any innuendo is suitably mild - "Get in close and nail that guy! Oooh, so hot!"
