Rodea the Sky Soldier is a bit of a tricky game to explain. Perhaps best thought of as an aerial platformer, this is a game where most of your time will be spent flying through the air, touching down only temporarily to refill your air-time meter, before soaring off again.
Following the story of Rodea, a robot with a heart that's been drafted to protect the flying continent of Garuda, Rodea the Sky Soldier is unlike anything else you'll have played. Controlled using a quite complex series of buttons, you need to press A to jump into the air, press A again to enter "pre-flight" mode, and start spinning, which brings a cursor up on screen. All you need do then is press A when your cursor's targetted somewhere you want to go, and you'll start flying towards it. Of course, it's not quite as easy as that, as you can only be in the air for a limited amount of time, and with levels that are mostly made out of a series of floating platforms and islands, you'll need to keep a close eye on your air-time bar, and a closer eye on the ground! Should you run out of air time while not over the land, you'll simply fall to your doom. The whole objective here is mostly simply to get from one end of the level to the other, attacking/avoiding enemies as you go, or sometimes collecting a number of items.
In terms of accessibility, Rodea the Sky Soldier has a complex control scheme that often requires the use of both analogue sticks (on Wii U), and can sometimes tie an adult's fingers in knots, yet alone a younger child. With a lot to think about when you're flying, and a control scheme that's far from pick up and play, this is a game aimed at an older audience.
With nothing in the way of swearing, sex or violence, there's nothing in the way of mature content in Rodea the Sky Soldier.
