What is PaRappa the Rapper Remastered?
PaRappa the Rapper is a music game that follows the story of a rapping, 2D paper dog. Hoping to win the affections of an attractive young sunflower girl named Sunny Funny, it's up to you to learn all the skills you need to impress her, by mastering self defence, learning how to cook, and getting your driving license in the only way you know how - by rapping.
How do you play PaRappa the Rapper Remastered?
If you've played a "rhythm action" game before, you'll be in familiar territory with PaRappa. Following the beat of the rap master, all you need to do is listen to their rhythm, and repeat it back to them, following the handy button prompts on screen. As an icon of PaRappa's face travels down the bar, all you need to do is mash the button as his face crosses over the icon, making sure you get your timing right.
With six stages to complete, and a rapidly increasing difficultly level, this is a game that's sure to test your rhythmical skills. Once you've completed each stage, you can play it again in an attempt to go for the elusive "cool" rating. Rather than just repeating the rhythm back, you can only earn a "cool" rating by freestyling - perform a better rap than the rap master, and the "cool" rating will be yours!
How easy is PaRappa the Rapper Remastered to pick up and play?
While it may sound easy enough on paper, PaRappa the Rapper is deceptively difficult. Seemingly being incredibly picky in what it counts as being "on beat", you only have a tiny window in which to land each note, and getting the rhythm right can often be very tricky indeed. Get two "bad" lines in a row, and you'll move down a rank - get two more bad and you'll be staring at a game over. With nothing in game to tell you whether you're being slightly too slow, too fast, or simply haven't got the beat quite right, it can be hard to see where you're going wrong, and harder still to put it right. Surprisingly unforgiving, PaRappa is one of the trickiest music games out there.
With nothing in the way of bad language, sex or violence, PaRappa the Rapper is as clean as they come.
