Parent's Guide: Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze - Age rating, mature content and difficulty

Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze is a racing game along the lines of Mario Kart and Sonic All-Stars Racing, which stars the popular horror-themed Barbie-alikes. Players choose a team of three characters, before racing around a series of tracks on roller-skates, swapping between each person as they get tired and start to slow down a bit, while pelting your opponents with all sorts of weapons to hinder them.

The game features eight tracks split into two cups, plus four unlockable bonus stages, although the unlockable tracks require you to complete the two cups three times on increasing difficulty levels before you can play them. Featuring all your favourite dolls, from Frankie Stein and Clawdeen, to Abby Bominable, the game features some twelve playable characters, although only six are unlocked to begin with, the remaining dolls being awarded for completing the races on various difficulties. Each character has their own special move to help them turn the tide of the race, but unfortunately none of them seem to be rather slow coming to steer - something which younger players may find a little bit off putting if they can't adjust.

For children who have a thing for the dolls, Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze will probably go down pretty well, and for half the price of Mario Kart, it's definitely an option if you're after another racing game - although it is a shame that there's no multiplayer mode.

Much like Mario Kart, Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze doesn't have anything untoward in the slightest. About as violent as it gets is the ability to pelt each other with weapons to try and get an advantage, but no-one is ever seriously injured or anything, mostly falling over in a tangle of limbs before getting straight back up again.
