What is Marvel vs Capcom Infinite?

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is a beat 'em up that blends two worlds together. With the Marvel heroes and villains joined a line-up of Capcom's finest fighters, from games like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Devil May Cry and many more, this is a game that lets fantasy match-ups become reality, pairing moreish multiplayer battles with a hefty single player mode to boot.

How do you play Marvel vs Capcom Infinite?

At the core of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is a lengthy story mode, which sees the Marvel and Capcom heroes having to team up to take on a new foe - Ultron Sigma. Created when Avengers baddie Ultron, and Mega Man boss Sigma merged together, you'll take part in a huge array of 2 on 2 tag team battles, as you follow the epic story through to its conclusion.

The battles here are fast paced, side-on affairs that rely on reflexes and speed. Each character handles rather differently to the rest, with some built for speed, and others built for power, with and each having their own range of moves you can perform, and their own set of button combos you'll need to remember.

Along with the game's story mode, there's an Arcade mode that asks you to defeat as many enemy duos as possible; a Mission mode that challenges you to perform specific combos as each character, and a mutliplayer mode that lets you take on another player, either locally or online.

How easy is Marvel vs Capcom Infinite to pick up and play?

While it does rely heavily on both your reflexes, and your memory of each character's move set, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite comes with a number of features designed to help ease new players in. For starters, mashing just the "light punch" button will let you pull off an impressive "auto combo", while performing a super move is now as easy as pushing two buttons together. While your computer controlled opponents can sometimes be a bit too combo happy (and too good at blocking), the game's choice of five difficulty levels lets you take your foes down a peg or two, giving you a much more accessible ride.

While the game is fully subtitled, and the story is fully voiced, there's a fair amount of reading to get down when it comes to figuring out mission objectives, or the game's tutorials. Sample sentences include:

  • While guarding, press any two of [buttons] simultaneously to perform an advancing guard, pushing the opponent back.
  • While in direct contact with the opponent in the air, press [d-pad] or tilt [stick] toward or away from them, and press [button] to perform an aerial throw.
Mature Content

In terms of mature content, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is relatively mild. In terms of bad language, "ass" and "damn" is as strong as the game gets, while there's only mild violence, with characters fighting with everything from lasers to swords, or even bare knuckles, giving off only bright flashes when hit. In terms of sexual content, only a handful of characters wear revealing outfits, with one character (Morrigan) wearing tights and a thong leotard, while Haggar is a buff guy that fights topless.
