What is Mantis Burn Racing?

Mantis Burn Racing is an arcade-style top-down racing game with over the top, drift happy handling. Playing as one of three categories of cars (essentially light, medium and heavy), it's up to you to skid around the game's various tracks in either the game's extensive single player career, split-screen multiplayer (for up to four players), or up to eight players online.

How do you play Mantis Burn Racing?

As an arcade racer, Mantis Burn Racing is somewhat unusual in that it comes with a solid career mode to play through. Here, you'll be set all manner of challenges, as the game gently eases you in, and then ramps up the difficulty. Whether you're facing off against a bevy of opponents in an eliminator (the car in last place get eliminated), staring down the clock in a time trial, or jostling for position with up to seven other cars in an all-out race, there's a huge amount of variety to the challenges you'll be set, and a great levelling system to give you a reason to keep playing. Almost everything you do in game, from drifting to overtaking earns you experience points, and when you've gained enough to level up, you'll unlock new upgrades for your cars - and perhaps even entirely new vehicles.

How easy is Mantis Burn Racing to pick up and play?

Mantis Burn Racing is a game for those who know how to handle their drifting. There's a learning curve here, as you'll need to adjust to how skid-happy the cars are, meaning you'll need to be very gentle with the analogue sticks indeed. While the early races don't punish you too much, giving you chance to learn the ropes, by the time you get half way through the career (or if you ever play against any AI opponents in split-screen or online multiplayer), just one crash is all it'll take to leave everyone streaming past you.

While you'll have access to every track in the game from the moment you load the game up, you'll have to place at least third or higher in each race to make your way through the game's single player mode - and, you'll need to collect at a certain amount of gears to move on to the next "season" of the game's career mode. Gears are attained for completing certain, more complex challenges, and are specific to each race. You might be asked to drift for certain length of time, jump more than a certain distance, or win a race without boosting. While you'll only need to earn a portion of the total gears on offer to progress, you will find some races take multiple attempts to earn those last few gears you need to carry on.

With nothing in the way of sex, violence or bad language, Mantis Burn Racing is thoroughly family friendly.
