Jewel Link Double Pack: Safari Quest and Atlantic Quest is a compilation of two match three games, both of which were previously released on the DS. Packing two games onto one cartridge, this double pack offer more than 200 levels of match three fun, and plenty to keep you busy.
Each game revolves around a pretty similar idea, with only the story and setting that really differs - in Jewel Link Atlantic Quest, you're clearing up an oil tanker spillage and saving the poor old fish who've ended up being involved, while in Jewel Link Safari Quest, you're searching for a mystical white lion in the only way you know how - by making matches of three or more identical tiles. Of course, there's a little bit more to it than that, as each level also has a number of green squares you need to clear away, by making matches above them, and you'll also need to make matches with a certain amount of each type of tile - but it's all very straightforward, easy to pick up and play fun.
With no time limits and no pressure, this is great for beginners - you can spend literally as long as you want trying to finish the levels without being punished. While each level gives you a differently shaped grid to play with, making matches on some of the last few green squares can be pretty tricky, so the lack of a time limit makes this a lot more accessible. If you really find yourself struggling, there's also a range of power ups available that you unlock as you play through the game, from a monkey with laser eyes to a crab that chucks sticks of dynamite around, making clearing the last few squares that much easier.
In terms of reading ability, beyond the brief snippets of text that pop up as the game explains what you need to do, there's nothing in the way of essential reading here, so if your child understands the concept of a match three game, a reading ability isn't technically required.
With nothing in the way of violence, swearing or sex, there's nothing for parents to worry about here.
