What is Disney Magical World?
Disney Magical World is a life-simulation game along the lines of Animal Crossing, just with Disney characters. Based in the magical fictional world of Castleton, the game is divided into two chunks - character requests, and stickers. Wandering around Castleton, you'll bump into a number of famous characters who have something they want you to do, whether it's to wear a specific costume, or bring them a certain item - completing their request will net you some items. Meanwhile, there are over 100 stickers to collect, which kind of work like in-game achievements, and are awarded for doing certain things, from catching a fish over 100cm long, to creating 10 pieces of furniture. Once you've collected enough stickers, new areas of the world will open up, and you'll find yet more things to do.
How do you play Disney Magical World?
Like with many life sims, Disney Magical World is a pretty free form game, with a variety of things you can do. If you're feeling fashion conscious, you can try to make the right sort of clothes, and create an 'Ace Ensemble', getting up themed around a particular character, like Winnie the Pooh. Walking around in the Ace Ensemble will net you compliments from the characters in game, earning "sparkles" that can be spent on more new outfits. You also get to run a Café, having to choose from a variety of different food and drink options to entertain your guests, while earning items to make new recipes. There are also more action-based episodes (quests) to complete, which involve defeating cartoon-like ghosts with magic wands, in order to earn a treasure chest full of items.
How easy is Disney Magical World to pick up and play?
The majority of tasks are fairly straight forward and simple, but some of the episodes featuring the ghosts do get quite tricky later on in the game. For younger players, quests and objectives require a moderate amount of reading, and some good comprehension skills, as some quests are given in riddles and don't tell you the exact item you have to find.
Like the wholesome worlds it's based on, Disney Magical World contains nothing in the way of violence, gore, sex, or swearing. It's thoroughly family friendly fun.
