Ben 10 Omniverse is a co-operative platform/beat 'em up game, that lets your child take on the role of Ben 10. Based on the Omniverse TV series, the game similarly features a time travelling storyling, letting you take control of both current and young Ben, along with a selection of 13 alien forms.
Largely similar to the previous Ben 10 games, most of your child's time will be spent beating other enemies up, and solving the game's fairly basic puzzles by making use of your various alien's special powers, whether it's making use of Feedback's electricity to discharge one batter, and power another, or curling up into a ball as Canonbolt to charge a generator.
There's a decent mix of puzzles and fairly entertaining co-op fun, here, but there are a few things parents of younger children will want to be aware of. The first is that the controls are a little bit more complex than the really should be - in order to use your alien's special moves, you'll have to hold one button, and press another, which can be a bit awkward for younger players. Perhaps more concerning is that there's little in the way of hand holding in the levels. With no button prompts that pop-up to tell you which buttons to press, or which alien you need to be in order to use a certain item, things are a little bit more confusing than the really should be, which is worth thinking about if you have younger children. At times, the game can also be quite text heavy, especially in the tutorial modes, but nothing that fairly confident readers shouldn't be able to handle.
Based on the kids TV show, there's little for parents to worry about with Ben 10 Omniverse. There's nothing in the way of gore, sex, or swearing, and the violence found within is mild at worst. It's certainly no more violent than the TV show - all you'll be doing is beating other baddies up as one of your alien forms.
