With the Xbox One scheduled for a UK release in November, it's perhaps time to take a look at the games that will define the system's first few months. It's no secret that Microsoft's new console hasn't had the smoothest of starts, thanks mainly to the company's flip-flopping on issues like internet connectivity, restrictions on exactly what you can do with the games you buy. As always though it's the games that make or break any system. Let's take a look at what's on offer for Xbox One early adopters...
- Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag
- Battlefield 4
- Call of Duty: Ghosts
- Crimson Dragon
- Dead Rising 3
- FIFA 14
- Fighter Within
- Forza Motorsport 5
- Just Dance 2014
- Killer Instinct
- LEGO Marvel Superheroes
- Lococycle
- Madden NFL 25
- NBA 2K14
- NBA Live 14
- Need for Speed: Rivals
- Peggle 2
- Powerstar Golf
- Ryse: Son of Rome
- Skylanders: Swap Force
- Watch_Dogs
- Zoo Tycoon
- Zumba Fitness
At first glance it's a pretty similar list to the PS4's launch titles but, as with the PS3 and Xbox 360, it's the exclusives that will likely sway people one way or the other. Dead Rising 3, the gorgeous (but brutal) Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5 and the update of SNES classic fighter Killer Instinct are all exclusive to the Xbox One, so there's plenty for those who like a bit of zombie bashing, historical hack and slashing, racing and brawling. But what else is on offer? Aside from the multiplatform titles that'll also be gracing PS4 and Wii U like LEGO Marvel Superheroes and Watch_Dogs, we're pleased to see the hyper-addictive ball bouncing Peggle 2 and of course a digital version of FIFA 14 will be included in the 'Day One' edition of the console (which is a pretty great move if you ask us).
It's worth pointing out that Xbox One will cost a pretty terrifying £429 when it arrives this November less than PS4, but that price does include the Kinect sensor, while you'll have to pay extra for the PS4's updated Camera attachment. With neither console available yet, it's anybody's guess as to who will come out on top, but as long as there's a selection of games to cater for all tastes we're looking forward to seeing what's next.
