World of Tanks, the free-to-play tank combat game with the Ronseal name, has certainly become something of a phenomenon on PC. With millions of players (and generating millions in revenue), it's a runaway success - but what perhaps fewer people know is that it's been every bit as much of a success on mobile. Taking the authentic WW2 tank action found on the PC and console versions, and shrinking it down onto your phone or tablet, World of Tanks Blitz offered tank battles on a smaller, faster scale, wherever you were.
Now, Wargaming have announced that they're going to be running their first ever tournament on World of Tanks Blitz, with something of an international flavour. Called the "Rise of Continents" tournament, the contest flies in the face of history, pitting Asia vs North America vs the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States, i.e. the former Soviet Union) vs Europe in a global four way. So not only are America involved from the start of the battle for the first time in history, but Britain and Germany will be part of the same team. Which is probably for the best, really, as with the week the Germans have been having, we're not sure they'd be able to take the crushing disappointment of losing a third world war.
Anyway, putting all talk of "bloody good thrashings" aside, the contest will be divided into four week long stages, with each region competing to complete a number of objectives first, whether that's achieving the most kills by the end of the week, or winning the most games. Joining in with the fun is as simple as picking up your mobile and starting a game, with no special registration or tournament specific playlists to start. At the end of the week, each World of Tanks Blitz server will have its scores tallied, with the highest scoring regions receiving points. Should you manage to come top of your server at the end of each week, you may even win a brand new set of Sennheiser headphones, as Wargaming have 240 sets to give away - and they've got to go to someone.
So, if you're after a shiny new pair of headphones, or simply feel like making sure the Americans don't get yet another thing to brag about, why not give World of Tanks Blitz a go? With no fees involved to download the game, or start playing, you've got nothing to lose!
