What can we learn from the Sims 4 Restaurant/Kids Stuff Pack tease?

A very short trailer, but with plenty of info contained within

What can we learn from the Sims 4 RestaurantKids Stuff Pack tease
25th April, 2016 By Cassie Oldham

As promised, EA recently released a (very brief) trailer for The Sims 4, intended to show off the expansions they'll be bringing to the game over the coming weeks and months. As it turns out, said expansions are a brand new stuff pack, and a game pack - but without even so much as a name to go on, official details are few and far between. To say it was a teaser is an understatement, as weighing in at exactly 15 seconds, it probably raised more questions than it answered - but luckily, there's plenty of info we can gleam if you look closely at what was shown.

The first half of the trailer kicks off introducing a new Game Pack, with 2 Sims starting out their day eating breakfast at a table, which quickly gets transformed in to a restaurant setting with a waiter taking their orders. From this it's pretty safe to say that the new Game Pack is going to be centred out restaurants and going out for meals - which is something many Sims fans have been wanting for a while!

Back in the days of the Sims 2, there was a 'Hot Date' expansion pack that consisted of wining and dining your Sims and exploring various locations while going out for dinner. Could The Sims 4 be following in these footsteps and making a revamped version? We hope so! If a restaurant pack is on the cards, we expect there'll be a tonne of new interactions too, and we can't wait to see whether they'll incorporate candlelit proposals, cuddling in corner booths or even allowing Sims to skip out on the bill! How about even allowing Sims to sneak out of bathroom windows if a date's going sour?! The possibilities to this pack are endless, and it's so exciting to image what could be in store! Can you imagine twinning this pack with the Get to Work pack and being able to manage your own restaurant?! Game Packs tend to be the bigger and more expensive expansions, meaning we hope to see a new neighbourhood, new locations, new hairstyles, new clothing, new décor, new furniture and definitely new interactions to allow us to really experiment.

Dates can be interesting enough as it is - imagine how crazy they can get with the Restaurant Game Pack?

The second half of the trailer introduces the little guys - children! A child Sim can be seen happily playing with some toys and is soon joined by more children, chatting away and having a good time. These guys appear to be the focus of a new Stuff Pack, so we hope we can expect a whole load of new interactions for child Sims - although, unfortunately, it still looks like there's no sign of the much wanted toddlers. Honestly, when it comes to playing as a child on The Sims, it can become a little boring, as they are very limited in terms of what they can do, especially as you don't have the option to build on all of their skills. Hopefully, this new pack will allow children to express themselves in even more ways. Similarly, The Sims 2 had a 'Family Fun Stuff' expansion pack which included a whole load of child friendly furniture, such as beds shaped like castles and a dressing up box full of dinosaur and princess costumes. From the trailer, it seems like we could be in for a similar pack - it's safe to say the children are in for a treat if that's the case! The Stuff Packs are a little smaller than Game Packs as they don't include any new neighbourhoods, which means we'll have to rely on new furniture, clothing, hairstyles and gestures to brighten up our Sim children's worlds - including, seemingly, some monsters under the bed!

The Sims team have been building up to the release of this teaser trailer for a couple of months, so hopefully that means they have a whole load of exciting content coming our way! No dates have been confirmed for either pack, and all that's revealed is that the Game Pack will land first sometime this spring, with the Stuff Pack following a little later once summer comes around.

Be sure to save up for both of these packs, as Game Packs tends to be retailed at £29.99 and Stuff Packs at £14.99 or £7.99 depending on their size. In the meantime, don't forget to check out the trailer below - and happy simming!
