Ubisoft Reveal Eight Wii U Titles

Your Shape, The Avengers and Assassin's Creed 3 join Just Dance 4 and Rayman Legends

Ubisoft Reveal Eight Wii U Titles
6th June, 2012 By Sarah Morris

Much like at the launch of the 3DS, where French mega-publisher Ubisoft seemed to provide half of the launch line-up on its own, the Gailic games studio are swarming around the Wii U, having announced at yesterday's Nintendo E3 conference that they'll have a whopping eight titles will be coming to the Wii U at and around launch. As always, there's a good range of titles to suit everyone - and for once, not a Rayman 2 in sight.

Just Dance 4

As we revealed yesterday, Just Dance 4 is coming to the Wii U, and it's getting it's own special mode to boot. Puppet Master Mode lets one player with the Wii U GamePad drag and drop dance moves onto the screen, mixing up the routine for the other four people (who're playing normally using Wii Remotes) to dance along to - and you can make them hold a pose for as long as you want... Ubisoft also revealed the first few tracks for the upcoming game, with songs ranging from some Barry White to Maroon 5's 'Moves Like Jagger'.

We going straight to the Wild Wild West with Just Dance 4

ZombiU

When a huge plague descends on London, turning many of it's inhabitants into walking undead, you find yourself stranded in the Capital with your options running out. You're still alive, but for how much longer, as the labyrinth London streets and winding underground take their toll. The Wii U GamePad forms your Bug-Out Bag, the ultimate all in one survival kit for your tools, inventory, medi packs and more - but with equipment in short supply, you'll need to use them wisely, as you fight back the continual zombie horde. If and when you die, you'll jump into the shoes of an entirely new character, on a mission to retrieve your old B.O.B - which may still be hanging round the neck of your previous, now undead, character.

Assassin's Creed 3

Set during the American Revolution of 1775, you play as the part Native American, part English warrior Connor as he fights to save his homeland - embarking on an extraordinary journey that will transform him into a master assassin. As this is an Assassin's Creed game, expect to be drawn back into the centuries old battle between the Assassin's Order and their enemies the Templars, as you sneak around the crowded city streets, blending in amongst the people, whilst pursuing your prey. Given the main character's heritage, there'll be a whole arsenal of new weapons too, including tomahawks, rope darts, firearms and more.

Rabbids Land

Rabbids Land is an interesting new game, which sees the destructive space bunnies invading a theme park, in a mini-game filled board game along the same vein as the Mario Party series. Up to four players can take part in the race around the board, competing in a selection of half a dozen mini-games as they go - each of which makes innovative use of the Wii U GamePad, whether it's tilting it, shouting into it, drawing on it or sharing it with a friend. Other players will get a different view of each mini-game when they use the Wii Remotes - whether it's being the arsonist to the fireman, or a kitchen assistant to the cook.

Good job it's not a wooden rollercoaster, or things could be MUCH worse...

Rayman Legends

As a sequel to last year's Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends sees Rayman, Globox and the gang returning to run, jump and punch their way through a load of pretty tricky levels - and as we detailed yesterday, the Wii U version of the game comes complete with some exclusive features. First and foremost comes the ability to have a fifth player, controlling the frog/fairy Murfy as they use the Touch Screen on the Wii U GamePad to interact with the levels, whether it's clearing a path, or moving a platform to make things that little bit easier for the others. If the previously leaked trailer is anything to go buy, you'll even be able to scan in figures to get all sorts of crazy affects - whether it's extra health or swarms of Rabbids.

Sports Connection

Seeing as Nintendo don't seem to be releasing a Wii U Sports yet, Ubisoft have decided to fill the sport-related-mini-game void with Sports Connection - and luckily, it's already looking better than KIinect's MotionSports. Featuring Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Karting and football in both the American and proper flavours, with fun mini-games related to each, you'll be able to play with up to five friends, using a mixture of the new Wii U GamePad and Wii Remotes - whether it's swinging a Wii Remote in golf or baseball, or using the Touch Screen on the Wii U GamePad to curve a free kick.

Someone's obviously been paying attention to Nintendo's Wii U demos from last year...

Marvel Avengers: Battle For Earth

The evil Skrulls have landed, and it's up to the Avengers to battle for Earth's safety! Disappointingly not based on the 60s TV show, Battle for Earth instead takes its cues from the recent box office smash film, expanding the roster of spandex clad do-gooders beyond Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America and Thor, bringing with it a total of twenty classic Marvel characters, including Spiderman, and Wolverine and Storm of X-Men fame. Each character has their own set of four attacks to show the alien scum who's boss, and each is triggered by your movements with the Wii U GamePad.

And so ends Ubisoft's so-far-announced Wii U games - all of which should be launching around the same time as the Wii U console at the end of this year. With the Electronic Entertainment Expo going on in LA this week, we're expecting loads more exciting announcements are still to come - so make sure you keep checking back.
