Chances are, if you've taken a passing interest in Rocksmith recently, Ubisoft's BYOG (Bring Your Own Guitar) rhythm action game that follows the Guitar Hero formula, only instead of pressing coloured buttons in time with the music, you'll be playing a real guitar, you'll probably already own own an "axe" of your own. If you're coming to the Rocksmith party woefully under-equipped, however, there's no need to worry either, as Ubisoft are releasing a bundle that'll provide you with everything you need to start learning how to play the guitar.
Having formed a partnership with Gibson, Ubisoft have released the first details of their Rocksmith starter bundle, that includes the game, the cable you need to connect your guitar to your console, and an Epiphone (Gibson's affordable brand) Les Paul Junior.
While there's no mention of UK or EU prices, the American game, cable and guitar bundle will cost $199.99, while a bundle that packs the game and the cable you need in order to plug your guitar into your console will go for $79.99. With the game allowing you to plug any guitar into your console and play, if you already have a guitar, all you'll need is the game/lead bundle, but newcomers to playing guitar will be well catered to here. With a Les Paul Junior setting you back around £99 in the UK, you can probably expect to be paying around £160 for the Rocksmith guitar bundle (if we get it over here).
Rest assured, we're going to be badgering those in the know for any word on proper UK prices and a release date for Rocksmith, as it's certainly looking like an interesting game. Until then, you can check out the tracks that have been confirmed for Rocksmith so far, close your eyes, pick up your air guitar, and rock on.
