Sometimes we wish life was more like a game. Take Train Valley, for example. A railway management game, it's up to you to build railways, manage passenger flow, and carefully schedule trains to avoid incident whilst ensuring the highest possible throughput of characters. Unlike London Midland, who seem to think it'd be a bit of a laugh to stick a three coach train on during the middle of the rush hour. Good effort, guys.
But if you've ever thought you could do a better job of running a railway than the big guys, Train Valley lets you put yourself to the test, and put your buffer where your mouth is. With a semi-historically themed story mode, taking you across four countries, from America in the middle of the 1880s gold rush, through to Japan in 2020, you can take your railway empire through centuries of success - or develop a reputation for leaving your passengers standing.
With various cities to link together, it's up to you to figure out the best way to connect the various towns, building track, bridges, points, tunnels and even figure of eight intersections to ensure a steady flow. Originally released on Steam Early Access a few months ago, a lot of work's gone in behind the scenes to get the game up to scratch, and the finished product will now be releasing on 16th September at the rather low price of £6.99, on PC, Mac and Linux. With cutesy toy box graphics, and a relaxing style of gameplay, we'll be keeping our fingers crossed for a console release too.
