With sales of the Sims 3's most recent expansion packs proving the game's fan base still has an insatiable appetite that's yet to be quenched, and EA ever happy to oblige their paying customers, the company recently lifted the lid on the latest expansion pack for the uber life simulator, in the form of The Sims 3: Showtime. With more than a passing resemblance to the Superstar expansion of the original Sims game back in 2003, Showtime lets your Sim get a taste of the big time by becoming a famous singer, DJ, acrobat or magician and performing in front of huge cheering crowds. Packed with new items, from a karaoke machine and pool table to a mechanical bull, and plenty of new outfits, venues and lifetime wishes, there's plenty to play around with as your Sims rise from rags to riches, or go down in flames - the choice is yours.

As part of the promotion for the aforementioned expansion pack, popular pop person and long-time Sims fan, Katy Perry has jumped on board for various adverts, promotion and the like - which, as some of you more ardent Sims fans may know, isn't the first time Ms. Perry's been involved with the series, as the pop princess recorded a version 'Hot 'n' Cold' for The Sims 2 Apartment Life expansion a few years ago - apparently the most popular Simlish music video to date. Although, we can't imagine it has an awful lot of competition for the title...
To mark the occasion, EA are releasing a special 'The Sims 3: Showtime Katy Perry Collector's Edition' version of the game, launching in March this year, which comes with a whole assortment of extra bits and bobs. Obviously, you'll get a copy of the expansion pack, but you'll also get an exclusive poster, plus an extra downloadable 'Ultimate Stage' bonus venue and some Katy Perry-themed items, like clothes, her hairstyle, a guitar, and various other stage props. Katy Perry herself certainly seems thrilled, saying that "It's cool to see the Sims' stage performances in The Sims 3 Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour - even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I'm a Sim!". You can pre-order the Katy Perry edition here.

Whichever version you feel like going for - whether it be the Katy Perry Collector's Edition, the Limited Edition or just the plain old bog-standard edition, we'd recommend placing a pre-order down to avoid disappointment.
