Well, who could have seen that coming? People who work in the games industry are pretty creative! To celebrate the launch of the recently released plastic figure buying, disc placing, co-op adventure Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes, iconic Marvel favourites such as Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor invaded London. Unfortunately (and perhaps understandably) the real Marvel Heroes were unavailable at the time, so onlookers had to make do with projected performances as the heroes travelled through London instead.
Sailing down the river Thames, the Marvel Heroes chaperoned a 30 metre long barge carrying a precious cargo through the murky waters - the first copies of Disney Infinity 2.0. With Thor and Iron Man watching over things, even bridges weren't an obstacle for the Heroes, as they summoned The Incredible Hulk to lift Tower Bridge along the way! This impressive projection alone was an incredible 36 feet high!
Keeping a close eye on the cargo, projected onto walls throughout the streets of London (and giving those out for a night on the town a bit of a surprise) were Black Widow, The Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, and Venom. There's also two men black suits shown in the video doing all the heavy lifting, but unless Agent Coulson has a new disguise, we're pretty sure they're not part of the Marvel universe - and almost definitely aren't playable in the game.
Disney Infinity has been a worldwide success, boasting over three million copies sold. The hugely popular (yet still oddly complex) free form Toy Box mode has inspired thousands of user created levels, where the only limit is your imagination - and the pieces you've bought. Still, with over 12 million Toy Box levels having been shared and downloaded by other Disney Infinity owners, Disney will certainly be hoping the second instalment can ape the original's success.
Boel Ferguson, General Manager, Disney Interactive EMEA & UK comments "This hotly anticipated next chapter in the Disney Infinity series truly takes this gaming experience to the next level. With its incredible line-up of characters, it introduces brand new exciting adventures and ways for fans to engage with their favourite Marvel Super Heroes. What better way to celebrate its launch in the UK than to have The Hulk and fellow stars of the videogame escort the delivery themselves."
Indeed. Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes is out now for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Wii U. You can read our full review (or at least, a full review of the third of it that comes in the starter pack) here.
