In the weird and wonderful world of Scribblenauts, your imagination can run wild. Whether it's soaring through the skies atop a vampiric rideable flying tomato or creating huge craters with an explosive keyboard cat, half the fun in a game where you can simply write the name of any object, and have the game create it for you, is just messing around. And while many of the game's puzzley challenges can be solved with simple items, like creating a ladder to get a cat down from a roof, it's much more entertaining to come up with the most ludicrous solution possible. You see, Scribblenauts has a humongous dictionary of words at your disposal - and you can create pretty much anything your mind can imagine.
With so many options at your fingertips, Scribblenauts was a great chance to flex your creativity. Using your extensive vocabulary (or an air vent, locker and rope in my brother's case) to summon objects, you had to help out various characters, make it from one end of a deadly obstacle course to the other, and more. While the game's sequel added adjectives, letting you create angry tomatoes, hungry cats, and rideable T-Rexs, the latest in the series, Scribblenauts Unlimited, takes things much, much further.
A Nintendo exclusive, with 3DS and Wii U versions both in the works, it's the Wii U one that's looking the most exciting at the moment, as this is the version that includes the incredible looking Object Editor, where you can customise, and create anything and everything you can possibly think of. Perhaps you don't like how one of the built-in items looks? You can repaint it, add a rainbow afro and some wings. Maybe you have a desperate need for a dog with wheels, a fire breathing fireman, or a cat with a jet pack - you can create those too. But that's not all. When you've put the finishing touches to your latest and greatest creation, Scribblenauts Unlimited also gives you the ability to bundle them up, and send them to your friends, meaning your inbox will be a never-ending supply of disco yetis, bike-riding dinosaurs, and wrestlers in tutus.
Unfortunately we have no European release date for Scribblenauts Unlimited - although in America, it'll be hitting shelves on the same day the Wii U launches, on the 18th of November. Given our launch is about a fortnight later on the 30th of November, we're very much hoping it'll be a day one game too, perhaps giving us the final push we need to pick up the Wii U on launch day. Until then, we have a trailer showing off the Object Editor and the Shakespeare-worthy Clownthulu tragedy. We can't wait to go hands on with this:
