Bringing some much needed plastic guitar strumming, button mashing, multiplayer music game action back to the living room, Rock Band 4 will be making its debut on the 6th October, and will undoubtedly become a permanent fixture of the Everybody Plays staff evening's. But it wouldn't be a Rock Band game without a killer soundtrack - and with songs from the 60s and 70s through the present day, it shouldn't be too hard to find a track you know to play along with.
So, with the release now just around the corner, we thought we should bring you a round up of every song so far announced to be on the disc for Rock Band 4 (thousands more are available to download online at an extra cost), so you can see what takes your fancy:

Probably best summed up as "so far, so Rock Band", there's plenty of familiar faces on here. From the Who, who've been on every Rock Band game so far, through to other perennial series favourites like Avenged Sevenfold, Dream Theater, and the Foo Fighters, there's dozens of big name bands to choose from. However, there's one minor problem with going with a load of artists from earlier games - you tend to find you've already done their biggest and best tunes the first time round.
So far, (at least to us), it seems the Rock Band 4 set list has a lot of good songs, and a fair few OK ones you could hum, but no real killer tracks that hook you in and make you say "Yes! This is the game for me". Unless you're a big Van Halen fan, and are dying to play some of their tunes after the disappointing Guitar Hero Van Halen, as the band make their Rock Band debut. What we're really waiting for, though, is something more of a European influence.
When the original Rock Band game was first released, it came with a free selection of tracks by European artists to make up for the delay in the game reaching these shores - and they turned out to be some of the best tracks on the game. From Perfekte Welle by German band Juli, through to Muse's Hysteria (one of the best Rock Band tracks of all time), and tracks by Blur, Tokio Hotel, H-Blockx and Oasis, there was plenty of variety in the space of just a few extra tracks - and it made a huge difference to the game.
There are plenty of bands we'd love to see on a Rock Band game that have never had a song on there before. There still haven't been any tracks by Alter Bridge or Creed (seriously, how good would My Sacrifice or Weathered be?), nothing by Led Zeppelin (Stairway to Heaven might be OK, but for Rock Band practicality, there's always Kashmir), and even poppy-emo bands like Funeral for a Friend have missed out.
Still, with plenty of time to go before the game's release, even if you aren't yet sold, there's still time for plenty more great tunes to be added to the list. In fact, even if it should get round to day one, and you think there's still nothing that takes your eye, there's something weirdly magical about Rock Band that means once you pick up the guitar and start playing, you won't really care - as we found out when we went hands on, and even found ourselves having fun playing a Jack White song.
With plenty of tweaks beneath the surface, new improvised guitar solos and freestyle singing bonuses, along with full support for all your old instruments (so long as you're playing in the same console family), we're counting down the days to Rock Band 4's launch. But we want to know - if you could add any song by a band that's never been on a Rock Band game before, who/what would you pick? There's plenty of great tracks to choose from!
