Yesterday, we brought you news of the new Keytar controller that Harmonix are creating for Rock Band 3, that will teach you how to play the keyboard. Harmonix have now unveiled the other instruments you'll be playing with to get the full experience from the games Pro Mode.
Up first is the guitar controller, and like the Power Gig: Rise of the SixString guitar, it also doubles as a working electric guitar, as well as a game controller. But while Power Gig only has a chord mode, Rock Band 3's Pro mode will have you playing the songs note for note, presumably using proper guitar tablature, instead of a massive fretboard on screen. We're just hoping Rock Band 3 doesn't include any more songs by Abnormality. Our fingers couldn't cope with that on a plastic guitar...
Along with the real electric guitar, MadCatz have also made a midi guitar for use with the game, featuring six nylon strings and 102 individual buttons. We can't even begin to imagine how hard this Pro mode is going to be on the later songs.
You'll also be able to buy a separate unit for plugging in any electric drumkit, so you won't have to buy a Rock Band specific one for bashing away at.
We're hoping Rock Band 3 will be out before the end of the year, but we won't know one way or the other until E3, stay tuned for more news!
