Rock Band 3 complete setlist announced

They tried to put Amy Winehouse in the game, I said 'no no no'... But they didn't listen.

Rock Band 3 complete setlist announced
24th August, 2010 By Ian Morris

The 83 song strong setlist for Rock Band 3 has been unofficially leaked by Harmonix at Gamescom in Cologne last week. In a video, Harmonix were filmed scrolling through all 83 songs on the setlist - whilst telling people that they haven't yet released the details of the full setlist. The official line from Harmonix is "We are communications professionals, we would never make a mistake, and accidentally leak 83 songs, well before our game comes out, totally by accident, because we weren't paying attention during an interview in California", which is definitely not sarcasm in the slightest. And neither was that.

Maybe the hat is to detract attention away from the setlist scrolling past in the background?

There is definitely something for everyone - something Rock Band seem quite good at doing. But hopefully, by having almost double the songs of LEGO Rock Band (which suffered from not having enough for everyone), there should be more of something for everyone, if that makes sense. Even so, there are a few songs that we're not sure how well they'll work - for example, the White Stripes only have two people, a singer/guitarist and a drummer - how can you possibly tab this for five different instruments? And out of personal preferences, we don't want to play Amy Winehouse (strangling a cat would be more tuneful), or The Vines (which has the lyrical variation of Scouting for Girls), or yet more Devo (even if it is the one Smithers' took off in the Simpsons). Some of the songs look like they could be quite fun though - for example, Dire Straits' Walk of Life has an epic keyboard part, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody would work well if only for the vocal harmonies and keyboard part, and if I could sing high enough without breaking all the windows in the house, Blondie's Heart of Glass could be good.

It's almost strange though, that on a Rock Band game, the song on the list that we're looking forward to the most, and the one that ought to work the best is Elton John.
