Remastered Uncharted trilogy coming to the Playstation 4

Can you say 'yet another remaster'?

Remastered Uncharted trilogy coming to the Playstation 4
10th June, 2015 By Sarah Morris

With the biggest event in the game industry's calendar, the reveal-fest that is the E3 trade show, mere weeks away, we can't help thinking back to the days before the 'new consoles', when the prospect of the 'next generation' seemed new and exciting. We're now rapidly approaching the second year anniversary of the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, following their releases in the November of 2013 - and so far, it almost feels like we've had more "remasters" than we have brand new games!

Since the beginning of this 'generation', there's to have been an unprecedented number of remakes and remasters for the new consoles (and to some extent the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 too) - whether it's the infamous GTA V, a double pack of Final Fantasy X and X-2 or a remake of The Last Of Us, all getting an "HD-er" makeover a few months after they hit the Playstation 3 - and it's not showing signs of letting up any time soon. Whether it's because they expect most Playstation 4 owners to not have owned a Playstation 3 (and so this is a handy way for newcomers to get up to speed), whether it's because people may have sold their Playstation 3s and games to fund a Playstation 4, or whether it's just a chance to make a quick buck, we're not sure. All we know is the latest game to join the ranks of remasters is the Dude Raider himself, in the shape of the Uncharted Trilogy.

Hanging around. Nice water.

Coming this October, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for the Playstation 4 rounds up all three of the Playstation 3 adventure games onto one handy disc - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - all remastered into 1080p, 60fps goodness, with improved lighting, textures and models. And if that means nothing to you, you're not the only one. What it does mean however, is that you'll be able to catch up on Mr. Drake's tomb exploring, treasure hunting, globe-trotting adventures, whether you got round to playing the Playstation 3 originals or not.

With more than a little in common with Lara Croft's Tomb Raider, the Uncharted games follow the treasure hunting hunk from ancient civilisation to ancient civilisation, taking in the jungles of the Amazon, snowy mountains of Nepal and the Caribbean coastal city of Columbia (and many more), searching for the remains of his legendary long lost ancestor, Sir Frances Drake. When he's not busy clambering up temple walls, dodging traps and solving puzzles, there's always some mercenaries hot on his tail, hoping to steal his loot - which is where Nate's firearms and hand-to-hand combat skills come in.

And lets not forget that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is coming to the Playstation 4 next year - making The Nathan Drake Collection perfect for those looking to catch up with the adventurer's exploits before then. In fact, those who plump for the collection will even get a special sneak peak at the new game, getting exclusive access to the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta too - providing you have a Playstation Plus account for online multiplayer, anyway.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will hit the Playstation 4 later this year, on the 9th October (unless you're anywhere except the UK and Ireland, in which case you'll be getting it on the 7th instead). If you put in a pre-order now, you can even nab yourself some exclusive in-game items - a selection of iconic Nathan Drake outfits, Golden AK-47 and Golden 92FS guns, and, if you digitally pre-order via the Playstation Store, a Playstation 4 dynamic theme too.
