It was today announced that Puzzle Quest 2, the sequel to one of the DS' more enjoyable puzzle games, will be hitting the handheld this June.
Looking to keep what made the original game so enjoyable, Puzzle Quest 2 isn't planning on re-inventing the wheel, so to speak, as the sequel sticks to the series' guns of block swapping, mana gathering, spell casting fantasy action, with a few new additions bolted on - the most notable of which being a new, 3D isometric map, which makes us wonder if you'll be allowed a little more freedom when it comes to exploring the world this time around.
On the actual puzzle side of things, however, it's mostly more of the same, with new mana gems, spells, and character classes being added, alongside an all new story (although, to be honest, we doubt anyone bought Puzzle Quest for the story to begin with.)
If you're a fan of puzzle games - or you played the first one, keep an eye out for Puzzle Quest 2 on DS this June (an Xbox Live Arcade release is also planned, but as of the time of writing, no release date has been announced). If they can fix the awkward difficulty that plagued the first game, this could be something special.
