A couple of days ago (Valentine's day, in fact) we spent the our day in the traditionally romantic way of writing a preview of Puzzle Bobble Universe for Nintendo's upcoming 3DS handheld. In it, we said that we were still waiting on the release date, although we had been assured that it was going to be available somewhere in the 'launch period', a window between 25th March and June - and they weren't lying either. Today, Square Enix announced that Puzzle Bobble Universe will be available about a month after launch, on the 22nd April - perfect timing, as you'll have probably started to get a bit fed up with, or maybe even finished, the launch titles by then.
In case you've never come across the Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move series, the aim of the game is to clear the screen of the brightly-coloured bubbles by matching three or more of the same colour, which makes them disappear. Unlike the more conventional match three games like Bejeweled, you're not just swapping the bubbles round - armed with a bubble cannon, you'll need to shoot your bubble towards the top of the screen, bouncing your bubble into place off the walls, making use of angles of reflection, and all those other things you really should have paid more attention to in Physics.
Make sure you keep checking back, as we're likely to have more information coming on both Puzzle Bobble Universe and the Nintendo 3DS - as well as the tonne of games making their way onto it over the next few months.
