A couple of months age, we got the exciting news that the deliciously dark anime series Psycho-Pass is getting its own game - and not only that, but it's coming to the UK, courtesy of game publishers NIS America. PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness, a visual novel set in a dystopian future, where everyone's mental state is monitored, to determine their stress levels, and likelihood of committing a crime. As you'd likely expect, this is where the dystopian element comes in, as if you slip too far, the Public Safety Bureau will "take care of you". Originally slated for release later this year, not only do we now have a firm release date - but we also have details about the game's rather funky limited edition too!
Due out in Europe on September 16th, we can get either a digital or physical version of the game on PS4 and PS Vita, while PC players can pick up a digital copy through Steam. While the two console versions will be sharing a release date, NISA say they'll have more on the Steam launch "at a later date."
So you might be dying to find out what's in the limited edition (besides the game itself, of course). Well we're here to help!
To start us off we get a 72 page deluxe softcover art book (because a regular softcover art book just wouldn't do). It's supposed to be full of art work from the game, along with insightful commentary from the cast.
We will also be getting a soundtrack. A classic in our books, we love listening to good music from anime and games, and we're sure Psycho-Pass won't let us down.
But that's not all! It only gets more amazing from here… In a more unusual twist, they've also included in each limited edition 3 pencil boards, used to put between your paper when drawing and writing to prevent any marks from pens and pencils going through to the page behind. Perfect for "drawing your own dystopian world"! Or, drawing in a dystopian world...
But that's not all! The limited edition also packs a micro-fibre cloth, perfect for cleaning your games console, or any reflective surfaces that need your care… Looks like a great glasses cleaner!
And all these goodies will come packaged in a sturdy designer box, bound to look great on anyone's shelf of game collectables.
Needless to say, this looks like another stonking limited edition from NISA, and despite not having an RRP for the UK edition just yet, we have seen it available to pre-order on the NIS America website for $69.99 (which works out at just shy of £50), so we hope the price will be reasonable for us!
While we have yet to see it available to pre-order anywhere in the UK, it hopefully won't be too long before pre-orders open - most likely on the official NISA Europe site. We'll definitely be keeping our eyes open! In the mean time, why not feast your eyes on the trailer for the Japanese edition of the game, from back when the game was an Xbox One exclusive.
