We love Pokémon, and are anxiously awaiting the newest instalment's worldwide release on October 12th. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are the first 3DS entries in the long running series, and are looking to be well worth the wait from the footage and info we've seen so far. You'll be exploring a huge world, capturing and battling with more varieties of Pokémon than ever before, as well as looking after your critters using the Pokémon-Amie mode, Nintendogs style. Of course, the series tradition of having two slightly different versions available continues, and prospective trainers will have to decide between the X and Y editions, each with a number of unique Pokémon. Sure to be a massive hit anyway, Nintendo is sweetening the deal even further. Following the success they've had bundling pre-installed games with shiny new 3DS units, most recently with Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Nintendo has just announced that two unique Pokémon themed 3DS XLs will be released for the Japanese market.
The first, dark blue model features artwork of each of the games' legendary Pokémon, Xerneas and Yveltal, and will come with either Pokémon X or Pokémon Y installed on the included 4GB SD card. The second model also features your choice of X or Y already on the system, and is a rather fetching gold colour with stencil-like artwork on both sides. This version will only be sold in Japan's themed 'Pokémon Centre' stores though, and will therefore be much harder to track down.
We reckon they both look great, but as of now there's been no hint of a release outside of Japan and with the 3DS being region locked, there's not much scope for importing one. Still, the Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS XL bundle has done rather well on these shores, so a Western release isn't completely out of the question. There's likely to be more information about Pokémon X and Y released before October, possibly in a dedicated Nintendo Direct broadcast, so there's plenty of time for Nintendo to announce a European release for these lovely bundles.
