Pokemon Rumble Blast coming to the 3DS

In the US at least...

Pokemon Rumble Blast coming to the 3DS
25th July, 2011 By Sarah Morris

Last month we reported on a brand new Pokemon game coming to the 3DS, that seemed to be offering something a little bit different to the usual DS Pokemon games we've come to know and love - like Pokemon Black & White. Now renamed Pokemon Rumble Blast, the game is a sequel to the WiiWare Pokemon Rumble, and, like it's predecessor, has you battling and collecting more than 600 little wind up figures of the little critters - including the brand new 'mons from the Pokemon Black & White games. But unlike the WiiWare version, this is a fully-fledged cartridge game as opposed to a (quite expensive) downloadable game.

Like the WiiWare version of Pokemon Rumble, the 3DS's Pokemon Rumble Blast will feature local co-op, letting you and a friend work together to fight your way through the waves of oncoming toy Pokemon, collecting some of them as you go (strangely, the way to befriend them is to beat them really badly), although as of yet we're not sure if this will require you both to have copies of the game, or whether it'll let you do download play. A bonus of playing in co-op is that it apparently makes it easier to befriend some of the Pokemon - so that elusive Emolga will soon be yours. The StreetPass feature, meanwhile, sounds similar to that of Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition, where your collection of wind-up Pokemon will battle automatically against people you walk past, along with inserting their Mii into your game - whatever that means. Maybe it'll be like in Wii Sports Resort, which was probably the only game where Mr. T, Jesus and Homer Simpson can watch you play Table Tennis.

Battling Pokemon is a serious business - even if said Pokemon keeps having to pull his trousers up all the time.

Unfortunately, there's no word on a UK release date yet, but seeing as the Americans are getting it on the 24th October this year, fingers crossed it'll be over here not too long after - as always, we'll keep you posted.
