Heads up Pokémon fans! If you're planning a trip to Tokyo any time soon, there's a brand new must-visit destination to add to your to do list - but only for a very limited time.
As of today, the Pokémon Cafe Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire is open for business in Shibuya, Tokyo, a cafe based on the recent Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire releases, and the perfect place to pop in and pick up a Pikachu themed pudding when you're out and about. And it looks awesome.
Interesting titbit - Themed cafes aren't a new thing for Tokyo. There's been a Resident Evil cafe, a Gundam Cafe and even Square Enix's own Arnita Cafe.
Thanks to sibch.tv we have loads of details (and plenty of pics) of this weird and wonderful pop up cafe. The interior is decked out with Pokémon plushies and imagery so cute you'll die with excitement before you even get to the food (even the waitresses wear Pikachu ears and tails).
But the top draw seems to be the cafe's assortment of Pokésnacks - food and drink with a Pokémon theme. From special Kyogre and Groudon meals to lattes served in Pokéball mugs, it all looks superb - and we want to try it all.
As if offering Pokémon themed treats wasn't enough, it looks like visiting the cafe will also net you a special Pikachu to port to your copy of Pokémon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire via mystery gift.
If you fancy stabbing a ball of Pikachu rice in the face with a fork (sounds oddly violent when you put it like that...), you'll have to be quick though, as the Pokémon goodness won't be around forever. The cafe is open for a very limited time only, on the 7th floor at the Shibuya Parco building, from 11am - 10pm from today until the end of February to go.
If you do plan to visit the café, why not let us know - and maybe bring us a souvenir. The latte probably wouldn't spill too much in your bag, and we'd appreciate the effort. Until then, we hope Nintendo starts opening up more gaming restaurants, especially here in the UK. It's a trend that's certainly a recipe for success - although we'd also settle for a Pokémon Centre...
Check out all the shots from inside the cafe below, and then let us know what Pokémon themed treat you'd like to try!
