Pokemon a game that "anybody can enjoy"

That would explain the sales figures, then.

Pokemon a game that anybody can enjoy
12th April, 2010 By Ian Morris

If there's a message we've been keen to get across when we talk to parents, it's that Pokemon isn't just a game for children. In fact, along with Professor Layton, it's one of those unique games that we feel can be enjoyed by any age group - the experience of catching, raising, and training your Pokemon is one that has an almost universal appeal - and trading Pokemon with your children - or simply with eachother, is as addictive as it is fun.

Luckily for us, it looks it's a sentiment that Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver producer Junichi Masuda shares. When asked about whether he'd ever considered reinventing the seires in a recent interview with ONM, Masuda-san said: "I always try to create a game that anybody, including those who have never played before, can enjoy."

Find a Pokemon, catch a Pokemon, train a Pokemon. Repeat. The appeal lies in the simplicity.

Which is good, because when you've got the formula right, change isn't always a good thing (as Lego Indiana Jones 2 can tell you).

If you've never played a Pokemon game before, why not read our review of the latest in the series, Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver, and see if we can twist your leg. Go on. You won't regret it.
