Today being International Talk Like A Pirate day and all, Disney have decided it's a perfect time to reveal another of their worlds for their upcoming co-op platforming game, Disney Universe, in the shape of Pirates of the Caribbean. Adding to the already announced worlds of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland, Wall-E, The Lion King and Monsters Inc - the latter two of which we got a chance to play at this years Gamescom, and Disney Universe is already shaping up to draw from an impressive selection of source material.
The story behind Disney Universe is that of a brand new virtual reality world - the Disney Universe - which people can enter and 'live out' various Disney films. Or at least, that's the theory - until a mischievous hacker goes about altering the stories, and it's up to you (and your friends) to put it all right. In the new Pirates of the Caribbean world, you'll be navigating their way down London's Thames River, and round the city's streets, throwing water bombs to prevent the city burning down, whilst fending off enemy pirate ships with giant cannons - all on your journey to find the Fountain of Youth. Oh, and did I mention the giant rubber duck vehicles?
As well as a whole Pirates of the Caribbean themed world, players can 'suit up' as a variety of characters from the films - including Captain Jack Sparrow, Angelica, Mr. Gibbs, Captain Barbossa and Blackbeard. Here's a trailer showing off the new world, characters and some of the crazy power-ups you can pick up along the way:
Featuring four player co-op on the same console (or competitive, depending on how you roll), Disney Universe is sure to be a hit when it launches on the 28th October this year, across the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii, as well as a digital download for the PC. Until then, make sure you stay tuned, as we're sure to get more information on the game before then - including the (by our calculations) last remaining world!
