If you're nervous about the available room in your stocking, you may want to go out and purchase another one, because this news will only give you more reason to fear for lack of space. While paper has a tendency to fit in quite nicely without taking up too much space, one of Nintendo's biggest Nintendo 3DS games for this holiday season certainly won't be that easy to fold up.
Yes, Nintendo has finally confirmed that one of our most anticipated 3DS games, for Paper Mario: Sticker Star, will be nestling comfortably within stockings around the country this Christmas. The handheld title, which sees everyone's favourite plumber squished into a papery form, is releasing in Europe on the 7th of December.
Taking the 2D platforming goodness of New Super Mario Bros, folding it in with some Pokémon style turn based battles, and adding a sprinkling of humour on top, Paper Mario: Sticker Star sees the Mushroom Kingdom being given a papercraft makeover. But far from just being a pretty distraction, the paperness is for more than just show; Mario can interact with objects that are scattered around the environment, revealing things that are hidden within such as coins. It's also possible to change the world around you and advance to new areas with actions such as tapping a tree down, as good old Mario illustrates in the trailer.
But there's an added twist for this 3DS outing, hidden in the title Sticker Star. Mario must collect stickers that can be found all over the world around him, by peeling them off walls and trees, and can use them in battles against his enemies. For example, pick a hammer sticker, and Mario will wallop his enemies with exactly that; a trusty hammer. This new trailer actually shows two interesting new examples; being able to plaster the screen with drawing pins, and even more intriguing, a goat that actually bites enemies - after all, goats are known for their love of paper. And coats. And skirts. Truth be told, we wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of either of these moves.
With a release date now set in stone (or at least, scribbled on paper), Paper Mario Sticker Star's papery goodness will float into stores on the 7th of December. We'd suggest you keep an eye out for this one. After all, big surprises are known to come in small packages.
