Nintendo Wii price drop takes console below 100

The Wii's sales figures have never been anything short of impressive. With more than 86 million sold worldwide, and one in three households in the UK owning one, it was starting to feel as though everyone had one - even those who'd never really played games before.

If you haven't invested yet, however, as cheesy as it may sound to say it, there's now literally never been a better time to buy, as Nintendo have slashed the price of the Wii to under a hundred smackers, making it the current cheapest games console by far.

Less than £100? Go on then...

Now finding itself well under the impulse buy margin, for under £100, you can buy either a Mario Kart Wii bundle (£99.99 at GAME here), which nets you the Wii console itself, a Wii Remote Plus (which features a built in Motion Plus), a nunchuck, and, of course Mario Kart itself, or, you can get a black Wii Sports Resort pack (also £99.99 at GAME here), which comes with a black Wii, a black Wii Remote, a Motion Plus add-on, and the seminal classics Wii Sports, and Wii Sports Resort. If we didn't already have a Wii, we have no idea which one we'd go for...

We reported a few weeks ago that Nintendo were planning to drop the price of the Wii, but few predicted it would drop quite this much. With the launch on the Nintendo Select range, which offers a collection of classic titles for budget prices (Animal Crossing: Lets go to the City, Mario Strikers Charged Football, Wii Sports, and Wario Ware: Smooth Moves are now £17.99 each), getting involved is cheaper than it's ever been before. Even if you're only looking to play Wii Fit, or Zumba Fitness, it's tricky to say no to £100.

With so many amazing games available, including family beat 'em ups like Super Smash Bros Brawl, co-op platforming classics like Donkey Kong Country Returns, pink puffball brilliance in Kirby's Epic Yarn, and a variety of fitness games, like Wii Fit, Zumba Fitness, and even Just Dance 2, if you haven't yet bought a Wii, you've been missing out. With the price dropping so low, maybe now's the time to find out what all the fuss is about for yourself.
