Nintendo to release Wii Remote Plus

New controller has Motion Plus built-in

Nintendo to release Wii Remote Plus
14th October, 2010 By Ian Morris

While the benefits of the accuracy increasing Motion+ accessory are easy to see, if you've played a Motion+ enabled game, it's safe to say the actual device itself is a little unwieldy. Having to be clipped onto the bottom of the Wii Remote, it's never felt quite right having that extra length there, as it never felt like the greatest of fits.

Thankfully, a solution is on the way in the form of the Wii Remote Plus. Releasing in Japan on the 11th of November - the Wii Remote Plus is to come with the Wii Motion Plus accessory built in, and will be the same size as a regular Wii Remote. Nintendo also plan to replace the Wii Motion Plus accessory included in the Wii Sports Resort bundle with the new Wii Remotes.

A game called FlingSmash has also emerged in America, and according to the box has a "Wii Remote Plus inside". FlingSmash is said to be a cross between tennis and pinball, and by flinging the Wii Remote, you'll propel the little ball shaped character called Zip into targets to destroy them, in an effort to save Suthon Island from the clutches of the evil Omminus. While FlingSmash is scheduled for a UK release on the 19th of November, there's no word yet on whether the game will similarly come bundled with a Wii Remote Plus.

If November's just too long to wait, however, and you need the latest Nintendo controllers right this second, Nintendo's recently announced special edition Mario Wii console, in celebration of the fat Italian plumber's 25th birthday, will be coming bundled with a red Wii Remote Plus too! We'll be keeping our ears to the ground as we wait for a UK release date, or price, so keep checking back.
