The Legend of Zelda is one of those few games series that is almost universally revered. The series plays host to some of the greatest achievements in gaming and whether it's the original Zelda's open adventure style gameplay, Link's Awakening proving that the full games could work on a handheld system or Ocarina of Time being lauded as one of the greatest games of all time, in both N64 and 3DS incarnations, you know that you're going to get something special with a new Zelda game.

Such is the level of anticipation for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which is slowly building some steam as more and more information is made available about the title since it was announced during Nintendo's E3 presentation.

The title is set to maintain many of the gameplay mechanics that have made the series such a favourite in the past, however it now has a new graphical style that appears to be a cross between the realistic visuals of Twilight Princess and the cartoon style visuals seen in the Gamecube's Zelda title, Wind Waker. It looks pretty stunning regardless and has led to the title rightly being considered as one of the most gorgeous on the Wii.

It will also likely see a new take on the traditional "Zelda gets kidnapped by Ganon" story that has been the bread and butter of the main console iterations in the series, as Zelda looks to take a more active role and is actually a childhood friend of the protagonist Link, rather than being a far off princess that he is tasked with rescuing.

It will also likely be the last really big title to hit the console as Nintendo prepare to release the Wii-U next year, so that's just another reason for Nintendo fans to be excited about it.

Of course, Nintendo have decided to further whet gamers' appetites with a slow trickle of news regarding the title, with the latest being a new trailer that shows a little bit more of the game in action.

The trailer was unveiled at this year's Comic Con and can be found by clicking here
