In a recent interview with German site Gaming Media, Shigeru Miyamoto, the man behind the legendary Zelda series, has confirmed that the series' next Wii outing - widely expected to be revealed at the E3 Expo in around a month's time, will be taking a different direction.
Apparently growing concerned with how complex the series has become, Miyamoto has confirmed that the new game will have "player friendly" controls.
"For us, it is important to the to optimise gameplay and make the controls easier. We do our best to make the controls player friendly, since Zelda has become complicated."
Quite what more "player friendly" controls means is anyone's guess, as in our opinion, Zelda wasn't phenomenally complex before - shooting a bow and arrow, and using a hookshot were surprisngly intuitive using the Wii Remote. Whether we'll be seeing a Zelda: Spirit Tracks style control scheme on the Wii, where Link automatically walks to wherever you point the remote remains to be seen, although we'd consider it unlikely.
Still, our anticipation levels are running high. The new Zelda should be revealed at E3, in around a month's time.
