It's been a while since we've had a good Star Trek game. In fact, it's been a while since we've had a Star Trek game at all. Going the same way as games from their arch rival Star Wars, Star Trek games have been somewhat of an endangered species, as the series slowly lost its popularity. With the release of J.J. Abrams Star Trek film in 2009, however, the sci-fi behemoth's notability quickly started to pick up - and now, the film's getting its very own game to go with it.
A co-op, action adventure game, the as yet unnamed Star Trek title will pick up where J.J. Abrams reboot left off, as two players team up to take on the roles of Kirk and Spock, as the pair face off against a "legendary enemy race" who are bent on conquering the galaxy. The Borg? We certainly hope so.
With a story written in collaboration with the writers/producers of the new Star Trek film, and some interesting co-op gameplay, Star Trek certainly sounds like an interesting proposition. With gaming's largest expo, E3 about to kick off, we're sure we'll be finding out much more about this over the next few days. Make sure you check back for all the latest.
